Where Am I Going?

This is a super tight itinerary. People say I won't have time to breathe, but other than India in general, there are very few specific things I want to see. Besides, I never do what I'm told anyway.

Mumbai - Bandra - Where "... $280 will secure you a stunning gem encrusted ring". I may be travelling light, but there's always room for gem encrusting.

Kalighat - I have always wanted to go to the Kali temple. I've read that this is a horrible, dark and dangerous place, but that's always been part of the history.

Varanasi - This is the classic India and I love crowds.

Agra - The Taj Mahal. Need I say more?

Khajuraho - One of many world heritage site in India.

Amritsar - I'm not a fan of gold, but I've wanted to see the Golden Temple. I'm making sure I hit at least one site for each major religion. At least that's my excuse.

Jaipur - Check out the pictures on thislink. How can anyone compete with those colors? Desert, Jain temples and one of the best places to shop but particularly for gems and jewelry.

Delhi - I was going to describe this a culture, civilization and education, but then the anthropologist in me screamed 'ethnocentrism'.

Packing

Last time I went over seas, Italy, my luggage got lost. I was stuck for 3 days without fresh clothes. (3 days with pigeon shit on my shoulder from San Marco). Considering that I have 3 flights to my first Indian destination (so many opportunities to lose things) and my proclivity to pack light, I decided I would only take 1 carry on backpack.

So, I did a trial pack today just to make sure I wasn't taking too much on my trip.

Not only did my pack fit everything easily, it only weight 15.8 lbs. I can carry that all day.

4 weeks!
